Belmont Station (a.k.a. Belmont Park)

No picture of the Belmont Park Station is known to exist

Belmont, a large 18th-century estate originally owned by Thomas Lee of Stratford, situated on the east bank of Goose Creek
between the Leesburg Turnpike and the railroad, was operated for a number of seasons as a family outing and picnic grounds by the
Richmond & Danville. Side tracks and a station named Belmont Park were built to accommodate the special trains bringing throngs of
excursionists to the beautiful retreat.  Its popularity eventually waned and the property reverted to individual ownership, but for many
years one stub siding remained for loading thoroughbred horses and the occasional berthing of the private car belonging to
Edward Beale McLean, who purchased the estate in 1915.

Belmont Park described as a small railway station on the east bank of Goose Creek about 4 miles east of Leesburg, formerly a picturesque resort
and popular excursion point on the old Richmond and Danville Railroad Company, attracting, during the few years of its operation, many
thousands of visitors.
